How to Make a Thomas Jefferson (Jeffersonian) Bookstand with Downloadable Plans
Download Plans: http://www.davidcolarusso.com/handouts/jefferson_bookstand.pdf
This video documents the building of a Jeffersonian bookstand that I built for m fiancée’s birthday, based on the one found in Thomas Jefferson’s office at Monticello. It’s not exactly, a step-by-step, but it should be enough to point you in the right direction if you’d like to make one yourself.
In fact, I enjoyed making it so much, and my student loans are so big, that I’m willing to build a few on commission (starting at $500, depending on your choice of wood). If you’re interested in talking it through, shoot me an email at:

As a matter of cost comparison, here’s a handcrafted reproduction from BookStand World ($1950) http://bookstandworld.net/022.html
And a reproduction from Monticello ($618) http://www.monticellocatalog.org/110000.html

Small Woodworking Projects part II
Another video of smaller projects I’m working on in between chainsaw carving.
They are mostly made out of scrap wood, and leftover pieces of special
types such as Morus and Taxus. I take especially pride in making walking staffs and sticks.
You will my latest walking stick later on in the video.
In this video: A solid Mullberry (Morus) ball, a Golden Chain (Laburnum) candel holder, a Juniper (Juniperus) wall clock, a Taxus walking stick, two wood grain demo’s, a collection of branch growths and two plant vases.
These objects where made in Hortus Haren, Netherlands.
