Suggestions for WoodWork school project wanted?

heres the design brief that i am doing
In an effort to raise awareness of the importance of forests and biodiversity, the United
Nations has dedicated 2011 as the International Year of Forests.
Design and make an artefact which celebrates the importance of forests in maintaining
biodiversity and in preserving the world’s fragile resources. The design should reflect the
interdependence of all life forms on earth. The finished artefact should be inspirational and
elegant in its setting.
Mechanical toys were the favourite project I did in school.
Obviously they don’t have to be as complicated as site below. They also are good for teaching pupils about cams, shafts etc.

Build a table top wine rackCool woodwork projects?
Hey everyone!
I have a very cool woodwork teacher, and she said i can make any project i want, as long as its a big one. Do you guys have any ideas? (any ideas welcome!)

how should i anchor some felt to my woodwork project?
Im making a pencil case in woodwork, and i want to line the inside with some soft black felt to keep it looking nice, i was wondering how should i put it on there? woodglue? im anchoring it to wood so yea… wood glue? hot glue? staples? what else whould work best?
How about those felt squares with the sticky backing. They’re usually 99 cents a sheet and found in any craft store where they have the felt squares (cut the felt to size, remove the back and adhere to the interior of your wood project [at least you don't need to apply or use any glue or hot glue etc.....it's done!]) (I had a mini metal file drawer, and that’s what we used to line the base of each drawer. It worked out well!)
How to make a longbow?
Hey peeps
Im currently doing gcse D.T. at school and for my woodwork project i was thinking of making a Yew Longbow
the problem is i dont know how to make one.
Could anyone tell me what dimensions the wood should be to make a NON laminated one piece longbow?
If possible could you tell me what "form" of yew i should get like timber ect.
Any answers welcome, thankyou in advance
A long-bow might look simple, but it isn’t.
The shaping is quite critical.
There are whole books on the subject.
Too much to try to say here, but one caution I feel I have to
provide.
**When you draw that bow in ’tillering’ if a limb snaps,
the end whips about and comes at you fast & hard.
Be very careful.**
