A woodwork project???? ?
Doing leaving cert this yr ( last yr of school exams in Ireland). Need to make something from wood cant be something too easy but also nothing too hard!! Maybe something that looks nice with some joints!! PLease help!!
I personally love to make birdhouses. Because you can use your imagination and make any kind of house structure it is a lot of fun. And you can paint it to make it look even better. Here are some ideas:

What color should I paint my kitchen for a dramatic look against golden oak woodwork & cabinets?
My kitchen is huge and loaded with golden oak cabinets & trim everywhere; there is a sliding door, lots of 6′ windows, a neutral tiled backsplash & floor and neutral corian countertops with specks of beige, white & black. There are no window treatments to match, as my views are all forestal. The current theme is a tuscany look and the walls (which I hate) are a pale greyish green. I would like to stay with the Tuscany look, however, I need to paint these walls and make them a little more lively; I do not want them clashing w/the cabinets or woodwork. I should also mention that it’s an open floor plan, flowing into a dark burgundy colored dining room & a pale army green & taupe family room. Any suggestions?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

How about a faux finish? I think something like "lentil" (# 7165) or "saddlestitch" (# 7163) from their SoftSuede collection would look terrrific – and very dramatic.
You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they’ll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
Do you need to be strong (able to lift heavy logs) to be able to do woodworking projects ?
I would say that you do not need to be exceptionally strong to do workworking; however, it depends on what you are doing. If you are building bird houses, building furniture etc. you will be ok. If you are building timber based furniture, or post and beam construction I’d recommend that you be a little tougher, but keep in mind that there is a way to gain mechanical advantage for everything, so don’t let it get you down. Good luck

What should be the color of my leather sofa ( 3 seater, 1+1 seater)?
Hi,
We are planning to buy a new set of leather sofas. It would be a 3 seater and two single seater sofas. Kindly let me know your suggestions and idaes as to which color we can go for. Our woodwork (showcase and the T.V unit) is very very dark brown. Our walls and flooring is half white (i.e. not pure white…but creamish in color). We are planning to paint our walls in light yellow after1 year. So kindly suggest a color that for our sofas which would go well with half white and later with light yellow colored walls and as well as the dark wood work done in the living room.
Regards
Sangeetha
hi sangeetha… with the colors you mentioned you may go with one of the following:
1. if you like the drama and to show your sofas then you can choose a dark brown similar to the one you already have in the room.. or a color that’s not neutral like orange!
2. or to demonstrate a smoother transition without loosing emphasis on your new sofas… which is something i prefer… go for medium colors between the white (or later light yellow) walls… like a darker shade of beige or a lighter brown than the one you have…!
3. cream color or off-white (yellowish white)… which is suitable… but in this case you’ll lose emphasis on the sofas and the emphasis will be on other accessories… if that’s what you wish.
may i also offer some tips:
1. ask the manufacturers to provide a sample of the leather, and take it to your room to view it in your room’s lighting… it may look better or worse than in the showroom.
2. if you use neutral colors as i suggested you’ll be more free with colors that you choose for the accessories and rugs and pillows… if you wish to use colors!
3. if you like this idea and if possible… one of the 1 seat sofas can be a different colors than the rest of the set… it’ll give a modern and innovative look to your space… but make sure to distribute the pillows in a nice way then…
hey… i hope i helped… good luck!
